The other day, I watched the 2004 live action of Hana & Alice and I must say, it was strangely great. Haha.
It’s very hard to describe this movie, but hopefully someone commented about it on Batoto and I believe he completely nailed it :

Have seen the original, live-action movie in the interim, actually. It’s rather unique. It’s… how should I put it… compellingly uneventful. As in, it somehow manages to make it ordinariness and lackadaisical approach to storytelling into its “charm point”. Plus, it’ll be very realistic for a dozen minutes or so… then just through in a very slight curveball, making you go “wait, what?” It won’t be shocking or anything, just uncanny — enough to make you question the reality of the situation. Then, out of nowhere, they’ll sneak in a really touching moment. Like the bit with the dad. The dad be awesome. -Aquilla
