Chikyuu no Houkago -After School of the Earth- chap. 01

Another manga by Yoshitomi Akihito that I’ll translate! It’s now complete and there is a total of 6 volumes.

Funny story, 9 episodes of “manga 2.5” were made for this. They are freely available through Crunchyroll on their site or on DailyMotion. I didn’t watch the first one before translating the first chapter. Surprisingly (or not), both translations were pretty close. There are some things I think they translated better, but there’s a few I believe I handled better.

Anyway, one chapter down! Though, for now, I want to finish Hen na Nee-san before anything else. I’m also not sure If I want to prioritize School Ningyo afterward, another manga by Yoshitomi Akihito, only 2 volumes long. Only the first 3 chapters were scanlated. We’ll see.

SYNOPSIS : Most of humanity has been wiped out by mysterious dark monsters known only as “Phantoms.” Four survivors, who may well be the last of the human race, have found one another and are sharing a quiet, peaceful existence. These survivors are a kind, dependable teenage boy called Masashi, two teenage girls, shyer Sanae and bolder Yaeko, and a little girl called Anna. They feel as though they’re just living in a perpetual “after school” state, waiting for the rest of the human race to come home.

SliceOfLife : I found the second -pretty big- volume of Sasameke for 5$ in a con (already had the first, also found for cheap in a con a few years before). Awesome soccer comedy manga by Gotsubo Ryuji. And what do I find when looking at his other works? Not only were the other volumes related to Sasameke never officially released, they weren’t even scanlated! In fact, no other series by him was ever completely scanlated! Outrageous! I didn’t check for the others, but I got the raws for AniKoi up to volume 3 (synopsis below). If you want to work on this or any of his works, let me know! /rant

Takatoki is a high-school boy with an intense obsession for manga and anime. He desperately wants a typical anime romance with a girl who falls into a typical female anime stereotype. His childhood friend Chiyoko, a very unladylike girl who is a notorious fighter, tries in vain to get his mind back to reality.
One day, the two of them run into a girl in a sailor schoolgirl outfit being threatened by a generic band of thugs. As Chiyoko beats up the thugs, Takatoki learns that the girl, Asadzuma Youtsugi, is a cosplayer who wants to lead the life of an anime character. Was this Takatoki’s fated first encounter with his future anime lover!?

Aiko no Maa-chan chap. 01

The story follows Aiko and her very close friend Maa-chan. With the help of Maa-chan, Aiko starts walking the path toward adulthood.

Yamamoto Arisa is an assistant for the Shingeki no Kyojin -Attack on Titan- manga and what was supposed to be her debut work, Aiko no Maa-chan, was cancelled by Comic Zenon from fears of its publisher that the manga could be considered an “harmful publication” under the “Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths”. A manga being restricted by this ordinance can only be sold as a 18+ work, effectively reducing sales and the interest of publishing the volumes in print.

Even so, she decided to fight and publish her manga anyway with the help of fans through a successful crowdfunding campaign on Fundiy. Thus, She will publish Aiko no Maa-chan as one volume in 2015. In the meantime, we have access to the first chapter, presented here, on the manga site Manga on Web.
